Potentilla fruticosa Red Ace

One of the easiest and hardiest of herbaceous perennials, Potentilla fruticosa 'Red Ace' (Shrubby Cinquefoil) will reward with masses of scarlet-red, saucer-shaped flowers all summer long, contrasting wonderfully with rich green, bushy foliage.
A versatile and attractive element in many garden locations, its bushy, low-growing habit makes it perfect for the front of beds and borders, as well as rock and gravel gardens. It also is a great choice for banks and slopes – and a colourful choice for informal hedging. It makes an eye-catching display when planted in a pot or container for your patio or decking.
This deciduous, low-maintenance shrub grows to about 90cm height and spread, with good pest and disease resistance. Very hardy, when fully established it will tolerate drought and very cold temperatures. Place in full sun or partial shade, although flowers will fade from deep-red to orange in periods of intense sunshine.
Ideally planted in moist but well-drained soil, Potentilla 'Red Ace' is happy in most soil conditions.
