Also known as Justicia rizzinii, this winter-flowering shrub is also known as the Brazilian Fuchsia on account of its amazing yellow and scarlet fuchsia-like blooms.
A sight to behold when in full bloom, this evergreen is a compact, tender variety growing to around 60cm (2ft) in height and making an ideal conservatory or heated greenhouse plant that can live short-term outside as a summer patio plant.
Although it need protection from frost, the reward that you get is well worth the little extra effort – flowering from late autumn to early spring the dainty nodding clusters of tubular blooms are around 2cm in length and contrast magically with its small, oval, dark green leaves.
