Description
Clematis montana are often called 'mile-a-minute' clematis, and with good reason! They are vigorous growers and planted anywhere where they can climb these impressive clematis will quickly establish themselves and begin to clamber up supports, over pergolas and arches and up into trees, cloaking them in a sea of abundant blooms.
An excellent choice if you have anything unsightly in your garden, use them to cover sheds and fences or grow them up a large trellises to make a screens.
Montanas should be pruned – if necessary – soon after blooming ceases removing only wood from previous years. New summer growth will bear next year's flowers and should be trained and tied in accordingly.
