Description
Grow a real taste of the orient with this quite remarkable citrus tree. It's hard to believe that these bizarre fruits are so closely related to the common orange yet each fleshy finger like lobe is actually a fruit segment that has developed it's own skin to give the unique hand shape. Revered in the Far East the fruits are often presented as gifts by visitors as they fill a room with a zesty fragrance. There is little flesh in the fingers but the peel is wonderfully scented and can be used in any recipe that calls for orange zest. It also makes lovely infusions or can be used in pot pourri.
Producing the same perfumed white blossom as a lemon, this is a fascinating plant for any conservatory or summer patio but should be protected in winter weather by bringing indoors Perfect in a large pot.
